Harlem Day serves 240 students in grades K-5.
Harlem Day strives to have a student body that represents the multicultural richness of our city. Students come from 4 of the 5 boroughs of New York City.
Our students are 87% African-American, 11% Hispanic, and 2% are of other heritage.
78% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
15% of our students receive special education services, including speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy.
Our attendance rate for the 2006-2007 school year was 93%.
Harlem Day takes parent involvement seriously and offers an extensive parent involvement program. Workshops, guest speakers, parenting literature and parent support groups are just some of the opportunities available.
All of Harlem Day’s faculty are certified or highly-qualified as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act.
Our average classroom size is 20 students with a 10 to 1 student-teacher ratio in grades K-2 and a 20 to 1 student-teacher ratio in grades 3 through 5.
Harlem Day offers a mandatory Summer Academy for students at risk for retention during the month of July.
