EXPECTATIONS

Harlem Day Charter School is committed to working in partnership with our students' families so that together we can provide our students with an excellent elementary education. Parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer time at the school, attend field trips and parent workshops, and become actively involved in the Parents Association. Additionally, the Parents Association President is a member of Harlem Day's Board of Trustees.

We ask all Harlem Day parents to affirm the Commitment to Excellence:

Commitment to Excellence, 2007-08
  • We will make sure our child arrives at HDCS at 8:00 a.m. every day.
  • We will make sure our child remains at HDCS until 3:30 p.m.
  • We will make sure that our child comes to school in proper/complete uniform.
  • We will make sure that our child completes all his/her homework and that homework is done accurately, completely, and neatly.
  • We will make sure that we sign all homework every night.
  • We will make sure that we sign all test papers and return them to school the following day.
  • We will make sure to read with our child every night.
  • We will make sure to notify the school before 8:30 a.m. when our child is absent.
  • We will make sure to send an absent note to the teacher as soon as our child returns to school.
  • We will make sure to communicate with the teachers about concerns we have about our child.
  • We will make sure to come to Parent/Teacher Conferences and to Parent Workshops.
  • We will participate in school activities, volunteer activities, and parent organizations.
  • We will make sure to allow our child to go on field trips by signing permission slips.
  • We will make sure to volunteer some of our time in any form or manner to HDCS.
  • We understand that our child must follow the HDCS rules so as to protect safety, the community, and rights of all individuals in the classroom.
  • We are responsible for the behavior and actions of our child.
